Founded in 1947 by the Boy family, National Jets is a full-service aviation company providing award-winning customer service and a full complement of aviation services across three distinct divisions: FBO services, aircraft maintenance, and aircraft management/charter. JOB PURPOSE

This position is responsible for managing all activities pertaining to the company’s pilots. This includes recruiting, initial and recurrent training, aircraft currency/proficiency, and aircraft operating standards. Responsibilities also include career path management for the pilot workforce and training to ensure operating requirements are met. This person will prioritize and distribute additional duties and projects, as necessary, to the pilot team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitors compliance with the FAA approved company ground and flight training program for crew members, check airmen instructors and other operations personnel. This includes the approval of contract training and use of aircraft simulators (if applicable) and other training devices or training aids.
  • He will assure that the required aircraft and equipment are available for training, and monitor all training and testing activities of flight crew members, is accomplished by the training department.
  • Establishes and maintains in current form the approved Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), General Operations Manual (GOM), Company Ground and Flight Training Programs for crewmembers, check airmen, instructors and operations personnel associated with company FAR 135 operations. He also directs the training and testing of company personnel who must meet the public.
  • Assist Chief Operating Officer and the Director of Operations in formulating operations, policies, and enforces company operations policies to crewmembers.
  • Prepares and advises the Director of Operations of the crewmember “status” for flight operations and training events.
  • ls responsible for crewmember standardization and periodic standards checks.
  • Prepares, maintains and periodically reviews all pilot training and proficiency records.
  • Disseminates information to all crew members pertaining to operations, manuals and training activities.
  • Serves as a representative on the Emergency Response Team.
  • Submits required operating reports to the Director of Operations as required.
  • Ensures that all company pilots maintain current route qualifications and receive proficiency checks required by the FAA and the company.
  • Maintains all recordkeeping the FAA and the company requires.
  • May delegate functions to other personnel, but retains responsibility.
  • Assure crew members flight and duty records are entered in the pilots permanent file on the first day of each month for the proceeding calendar month.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable of the company General Operations Manual, Flight Standards Operating Procedures, FAA regulations. NTSB procedures, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, etc. and other material pertinent to his duties.
  • Maintains current Aircraft Checklists.
  • The Chief pilot may exercise Operational Control over all flights. May initiate, conduct or terminate a flight for the company in accordance with FAR 135.77.
  • Act as a voice of the company and promotes the company business plan internally and externally when interfacing with front-line employees, vendors, OEMs and regulatory bodies.
  • In coordination with the Director of Operations to develop the department budget and provides monthly variance reporting.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BASIC

• High school diploma or GED required/ College degree is preferred
• Total of 3000 hours
• Minimum 1500 hours PIC
• Type Rating in at least one jet aircraft, LR-JET typed applicants preferred
• Have at least 3 years experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or part 135
• No accidents, incidents, violations or DUI/DWI
• Strong knowledge of FAA Regulations (FAR’s) including flight operations under parts 135 training
• Previous operations management experience across multiple fleets and domiciles preferred
• Must meet the requirements of 14 CFR 119.71(c).
• Must be able to complete training program, demonstrating proficiency with job requirements.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Must be able to work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Intermediate or better proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Work Authorization/ Security Clearance:

In accordance with applicable airport security regulations administered by the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration, and/or other local governing authorities, employee must obtain requisite security clearance and Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) security badge as a condition of hire.
